Here is at bottom only one problem in the world...
How does one break through?
How does one get into the open?
How does one get into the cocoon and become a butterfly?
-Thomas Mann
Definition of Struggle:To be coping with inability to perform well or win with diffuclty.

Struggle can be defined as to do a task or a problem with trouble. Some may agree that struggle is considered good it shows that struggle is good because if you get out of struggle you would not struggle with that anymore. Others consider it negative. Much research has been attended on this topic. Struggle, specifically poverty and racism is multidimensional, and has implications that can harm us.
Struggles are multidimensional. We see this in Breaking Through. For example, one of the struggles Panchito faces is being caught by the immigration because he is undocumented. This struggle causes him to live in fear that he was caught and that he is going back to Mexico. Some examples from the text that provide evidence of his fear is when he says “As soon as saw the person on the green uniform I panicked”(Jimenez 3).Another example is when Panchito says he has been living in fear all his life. These are examples that prove that sruggles are multidimensional.
Along the lines of struggle of being multidimensional we can also study its implications (see figure 2) .Once again using Breaking Through Panchito struggles with poverty.Poverty affects panchitos treatment, living conditions, health, and education..Breaking Through shows many examples of poverty. There is an example in the book of implications of poverty. One examples is when Pancho and Roberto lose months of school to work. This shows poverty affects education.
In addition to Breaking Through, there are way more implications of how poverty affects education. Like in the “Hunger Games” (Collins,Suzzane,”The Hunger Games”,New York:Scholastic,2008) poverty affects education because Katniss’s sister misses days of school because she has to work for money.”. Another example from the “Hunger Games” ,”Don’t you have to be in school?” I ask.”Not during harvest Everyone works then says Rue.(Thehungergames.cc/hunger1.html).One last example is,”children in poverty have a higher number of dropping out of school because they are most likely to have work or care for family members”,this means that they miss eduction to work or care for their family like in Breaking Through.
Poverty also affects living conditions. One piece of evidence is,”Seventy-eight percent of the non-poor live in homes their families own, compared to 41 percent of the poor and 24 percent of those living in poor,single-parent families” (www.Irle.berlceley.edu).The second example is 35% of the homeless population are families with children, which is the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. In addition,3.5 million people were forced to sleep in parks, under bridges,in shelters or cars(studentsagainsthunger.org).According to a website “Roof, foundation,or other structural defects that may expose the occupant to fire, burns, shock, accident,or other dangers to health or safety.
Poverty also affects treatment a quote or an example is “Under pressure of her family she married a man who was also abusive”. According to an another website Obama has vowed to make class warfare, specifally “income inequality”,the focus of the 2014 midterm campaign, declaring it the “defining challenge of our time”.What he did not mention is the inconvenient truth that income inequality has increased more during his presidency than that of any predecessor, through predictably his administration spokesman, Jay Carney, blamed Bush.
Poverty also affects health. One example from a website is, if you are poor, you are more likely to develop many illnesses, more likely to become injured, more likely to become disabled, and more likely to die early. You are less likely to have access to high quality medical care-or any medical care at all-and less likely to have access to presentive services. If you are poor, you are more likely to live in communities with hazardous outdoor and indoor air pollution. Your children are more likely to have elevated lead levels and resultant problems, such as lower IQ scores and reading levels, attention deficits and behavioral problems. From another website there is an example that says that if you find out that you are poor you are less likely to have adequate knowledge about threats to your health and health of your family. It is less likely to know your own health. You are less likely to receive medical care from providers. This examples show that if you don’t have money your health is bad.
All in all, this essay has shown the implications of poverty. . Some may argue that poverty is good for you and that it is good for you because if you struggle with in there will be no more problems.. I agree because it affects you at education but if you get over poverty there will be no more problems, the only bad thing is when it affects you on education.
Poverty is not the only struggle that has negative implications; Racism is just as damaging. Racism is a stereotype or an opinion of other races like Mexicans and black people , like this people cant do this or this people are always like this, or most of the time that a race is superior or better than another race.
Once again using Breaking through One example is from the book Breaking Through in a chapter named Broken Heart Roberto’s girlfriend stops dating him because his parents told her that she can not go out with him because he is Mexican. There are examples of implications and racism in Breaking Through, Panchito also experienced this when he was “Friends” with Peggy but then they stopped talking Panchito was with Peggy and their parents called her and Panchito left and the next day they stopped talking and they never talked again.
After watching the movie “42” I saw how racism really is. The movie “42” shows the implications of racism, and how it affected Jackie. In the movie it shows a lot of examples that show that people were racist to Jackie. One piece of evidence in the movie is when he is playing there comes this dudes and starts yelling “COME ON NI*****! YOU DON’T BELONG HERE!” and then Jackie got mad and left the the game but then came back and then one of his friends defended him, Later they threw the ball to his face. This affected Jackie in his life.
Not only has J. Robinson experienced racism and its implications but it also has happened to my aunt she got arrested because the cop was Mexican and he knew they were Mexican so basically there were being racist to their own race and when she was in jail they had types of bracelets and she got this specific bracelet that meant murder. Then she got out.
In contrast to all I have shared, Kelly McGonial provides an opposing perspective. She is not talking about struggle but she is talking about stress.
First she is talking about that struggle is bad for you if you think it is harmful, she also says that if you think that stress is harmful you have a greater chance of dying , but if you think it is good you have a less chance of dying. In my opinion or in my point of view stress is bad for you because if you struggle with something that creates stress. She claims that stress is your friend, an example that stress is in the book breaking through, when Panchito feels all hurt it was probably stress and stress can cause bad effects or it can also affect your life.
All in all, struggle, specifically poverty and racism, is multidimensional and has implications that can affect us. There is a lot of examples out ther of poverty and racism which is also defined as struggle for some people. Some people say that struggle is good but it is actually bad for some people specifically poverty and racism. When I did this research I realized that there is a lot of struggle and racism and a lot of poverty out there.
